God it’s been a long time since I posted on here, check out Rave on Air 2008. This year my role was to direct the link show, a T4 style show that runs throughout the day introducing all the programmes and content. It also went out LIVE over the internet and on our own freeview channel across Chislehurst and Bromley.
Here is a video that I had commissioned for the link show to sum up the whole day.
It’s been a long time since I added to this blog, but there is a reason for this. Soo much has happened since my last post, most of the time I have been chilling out and relaxing. But the main thing tat has happened to my recently is that I have recently been employed by big time, corporate company, Apple, for the new store in Cambridge, UK.
And at the time of writing this, we have already opened the store and had thousands of people visit us. I can honestly say that I have never had as much fun at a job as this one with Apple, but enough of that, If your a friend of mine you’ll probably know about this already as I haven’t been able to shut up about it, so I’ll move on…
Other than my recent employment to Apple, I have also been on various trips around the UK, including the BBC to check out ‘The One Show’ with thanks to a great engineer at the Beeb, Gareth Rowlands.
Another trip with some of the guys from Ravensbourne was to Center Parks in Longleat, it was a three hour drive there and back, some of the pics from our trip I have posted below. on the way back I broke down about 10 minutes from home which was seriously frustrating, know that I had to be at work early next morning and it was already 11 at night, so had to call the AAA who patched up the old citroen so I could get home.
More stuff to come soon, as Rave on Air is fast approaching so, I shall be keeping my updates on here as part of my course, for now here are a few pics from our trip to Longleat:

The Video for the Stage by Stage is soon to follow as soon as they have been received from the editor,
but as I was sound mixer for the show on Monday I thought I might as well post something a little different.
This is the Mix from Monday’s shoot. We prerecorded the girls all singing with the Keyboard so that they didn’t have to dance and sing at the same time, which would have been almost impossible to achieve as they would have been moving to much.
I used a Sure VP88 Stereo Mic to record the singers, which I positioned around the Microphone in a semi-circle, then added some Reverb so it didn’t sound to dry, A friend of mine observed the mic and described it as Ugly, I replied with ‘But it sure makes a great sound’. See what you think!
These MP3’s are scaled down from the original WAV files but they are still in Stereo (320kps) so you can still get the full effect.
The 2nd year Broadcasters (thats me) are tested each year on their practical Skills they have learnt at Ravensbourne.
This script is designed to capture the attention of students looking to come to Ravensbourne, and shows off some of the features they will learn about while they are here.
This Camera, Lighting Sound Practical Test is the 3rd of a number of takes.
All Cameras, Sound and Lights have been setup up by students of the Broadcast operations and Production Course.

On this show I was the Vision Mixer, which is my first time as most people tend to want to vision mix.
Finally the Musical Feast’s have started.
Our First week we kicked off with ‘Jimmy Orr‘

Today I got my new camera from Canon. I got the 30d purely because the 40d was to expensive and I hadn’t heard that many good things about it. As for the 30d, it’s been around for a long time now so it’s pretty stable and reliable. And, it doesn’t make a stupid fake shutter noise when you take a picture.

On the way back from Ice Skating, Gemma and I decided to stop off at a few places around cambridge to take a couple of photos. This is what I took.

Live Streaming Service from Ravensbourne
We have a Live streaming server that broadcasts our programmes out live over the internet…
This is what is currently going out on the stream, (If nothing loads or Black appears, nothing is being streamed and we have forgotten to patch something into the V-brick itself, so sorry for this…)
But Enjoy if something appears…
Next term after the “Power Up” project (Your Shout), we fill the rest of term two with “Musical Feast” where musical artists - singers - come to the studio and perform 2 or 3 numbers with a backing instrumentalist or two.
To make it more visually interesting this year, we’d like to integrate dance as much as possible.

This VT of the kids was filmed for a magazine style showcase (following shortly). I directed the showcase which this year was about christmas.
Originally Filmed in High Definition 1080/25p to give the filmic effect.

The ‘Burj Dubai’ is currently the worlds tallest building and they still have 1/3 to go to get to over 160 stores. Over 700 meters high.
It’s currently at 490 meters… so a Long way to go…

I got home today and discovered I had won just under 1 million pounds…
Or thats what I thought… 
This is the letter I got through the post. Watch out if you get this too, it’s the classic fraud letter. I have circled a few key points on the letter that just make it stand out as a ridiculous. Also let me just say now I never bought a lottery ticket on the 29th November…
Another piece of paper accompanied my letter asking for just about every personal detail about my bank account, including my mothers maiden name…
